This logistics note is an information guide for delegates of the IFSB Annual Meetings 2018 to facilitate all necessary logistical arrangements.

The Central Bank of Kuwait (CBK) and the Islamic Financial Services Board (IFSB) would like to welcome all delegation to the IFSB Annual Meetings 2018 in Kuwait City, Kuwait.

The rates offered by the official hotel are preferential rates for the IFSB Annual Meetings 2018 delegates. Rooms will be reserved based on complete details provided in the registration form and it will be subjected to the availability at the time the booking is received by the hotel. Upon arrival at the hotel, you may proceed to the front desk and mention the event and host name (IFSB Annual Meetings 2018 – IFSB/CBK) as well as your reservation details, the hotel front desk receptionist will locate your reservation accordingly.

Registration

All delegates will have to register to attend the events and meetings held during the IFSB Annual Meetings 2018 by submitting a completed registration form to the IFSB Secretariat. A confirmation letter will be issued to successful registration for the following events:

General Information on Kuwait

Language

The official language is Arabic. However, English is widely spoken.

Climate

Spring months are a part of March, April and May. During the spring months in Kuwait, you could see a beautiful sunny day in the morning, cloudy in the afternoon and thunderstorms in the evening. It is also a warm season with temperatures in the upper 20.

Local Time

Kuwait Standard Time is 3 hours ahead of Greenwich Mean Time ( GMT+3 ).

Currency

The currency used in Kuwait is the Kuwaiti Dinar (KD). The Dinar is divided into 1000 fils. Coins are worth five, 10, 20, 50 or 100 fils. Notes come in denominations of 250 fils, 500 fils, KD1, KD5, KD10 and KD20.

Electricity

In Kuwait the power sockets are of type C and G. The standard voltage is 240 V and the standard frequency is 50 Hz.

Taxes

Customs duties are generally 5% ad valorem, but many goods are admitted duty free.
