Professor Dr. Monzer Kahf is currently Professor of Islamic Finance and Islamic Economics, Faculty of Islamic Studies at the Hamad bin Khalifa University, Doha, Qatar. He received his Ph. D. in Economics from University of Utah in 1975.

In his rich working life, he joined at different organisations including university, research institutions, and financial institutions and worked splendidly. He has made significant contributions to Islamic Economics and Finance. His contributions include being a collaborating expert at the Islamic Fiqh Academy, Consultant on Islamic Finance at the International Monetary Fund, and Resource person for Islam-On-Line.net and On Islam. Net.

Prof. Dr. Monzer also served as the Head of Research in IRTI-IDB, Senior Research Economist, Director of Finance in the Islamic Society of North America, as well as few other positions.

He has written more than 100 book and articles on Islamic economics, Islamic public and private finance, Islamic banking, Zakah, Awqaf, including entries for the Oxford Encyclopedia of the Modern Islamic World.

Prof. Dr. Monzer has been honoured with the prestigious Prize in Islamic Economics in 2001 for his efforts of outstanding merit in the fields of Islamic economics, by the Islamic Development Bank (IDB).
