Chairman of the Board of Commissioners | Financial Services Authority, Indonesia

Dr. Santoso has served as the Chairman of Indonesia FSA since July 2017. Prior to his current position, he served as the President Commissioner at PT Bank Mandiri (Persero) Tbk since December 18, 2015 until 2017. Mr. Santoso also served as an Executive Director of International Monetary Fund from 2013 to 2015 and Head of Bank Indonesia Representative of New York from 2012 to 2013.

His professional experience began with working at Bank Indonesia as Banking Supervisor Staff in 1984 and has had a brilliant career with important roles, including as the Head of Internal Research Bureau from 1993 to 1994, Chairman of the Banking Transformation Program from 2001 to 2003, Head of Financial System Stability Bureau from 2006 to 2009 and Director of Banking Research and Regulation (DPNP) from 2010 to 2012. He was also active as Director of Indonesian Banking Development Institute (LPPI) since 2016.

He holds a degree in Economics from the State University of Surakarta in 1983, Master of Science, Business Administration from University of Illinois in 1993 and Doctoral Degree in PhD in Banking and Finance from the University of Loughborough in 1999. Dr. Santoso regularly teaches at leading universities in Indonesia and has writen various scientific journals on financial system regulatory and stability.

Aside from his Chairman’s position, currently Dr. Santoso also spearheads Indonesia Economic Sharia Community (MES), aiming to develop and bolster Indonesia Sharia Economy and Finance.
