Former Governors
He was appointed as a secretary at the Kuwait Monetary Council from 1963 to 1968, then as Deputy Governor of Kuwait at the International Monetary Fund, and continued in this position until 1983, then appointed as the Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Kuwait in 1968, while acting as Governor. He was appointed as the Governor of the Central Bank of Kuwait from 1973 till 1983. Mr. Hamza Abbas was a member of several boards of directors for several government institutions in Kuwait including the Supreme Education Council, the Supreme Council for Planning, the Higher Committee for Development and Economic Reform. He obtained a BA in Economics in 1958 from The American University of Beirut, and completed his postgraduate studies at Oxford University, St. Anthony’s College, 1960-1962.
