Kuwait Financial Forum, 1-2 November, 2009

H.E. the Governor of the Central Bank of Kuwait (CBK), Sheikh Salem Abdulaziz Al-Sabah, announced in a press statement to the Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) that the State of Kuwait will be holding a conference entitled "Kuwait Financial Forum" during the 1st- 2nd of November 2009, under the patronage of H.H. the Prime Minister, Sheikh Nasser Al- Mohammad Al-Ahmed Al-Sabah. The conference will be organized by Al-Iktissad Wal-Aamal Group, which has extensive experience in convening and organizing economic and financial conferences and forums in the Middle East, in cooperation of CBK and Kuwait Banking Association.

H.E. the Governor indicated that the "Kuwait Financial Forum" will address many important topics and themes related to the challenges that Arab economies face due to the global financial and economic crisis, including changes caused by the global financial and economic crisis on the directions of economic policies, stimulus and development strategies, developing the financial and banking markets, enhancing ways of monitoring them, and the need to create new global financial institutions.

H.E. the Governor added that the forum will also discuss domestic and foreign sources of finance, major consequences of the continuation of the credit squeeze on Arab countries, the need to explore new sources of finance, in addition to related topics regarding international as well as regional investment prospects, and strategies of sovereign wealth funds in the coming years. The Governor noted that the forum will include seminars and workshops on some of the conference topics.

H.E. the Governor concluded his statement by noting that many Ministers and Governors of central banks of different countries will be invited. In addition, leading executive officials of major banks and financial institutions, as well as prominent businessmen and professionals from Kuwait and elsewhere will also be invited.
