CBK Governor Honors the Graduates of the Risk Management Leaders Program

The Central Bank of Kuwait (CBK) Governor and Chairman of the Institute of Banking Studies (IBS), Basel A. Al-Haroon, honored the graduates of the Risk Management Leaders Program (Group II) at the CBK today. The program was held between May 16, 2022 to October 28, 2022. This is one of the "Kafa’a" initiative programs launched by the CBK in cooperation with Kuwaiti banks and Institute of Banking Studies with the aim to develop national competencies and encourage them to work in the risk management departments in banks and financial institutions.

The program was completed in four consecutive phases. The first phase included providing training programs and practical lectures in the field of risk management. The second phase aimed to qualify the participants to pass a professional certification exam in cooperation with the "Professional Risk Managers International Association" in the United States. The third phase included submission of case studies and graduation projects according to program committee’s specific criteria. The fourth phase covered international training in the United Kingdom in cooperation with the Center of Governance, Risk and Regulations at the London Institute of Banking and Finance for the 15 participants of the program.

The Kafa’a initiative is a comprehensive strategic initiative that aims to build highly qualified national cadres and provide them with the necessary knowledge to progress in their careers and ready them with the necessary skills for the labor market in line with the ever-changing needs of the financial and banking industry. The initiative also aims to create a pipeline of qualified nationals able to fill leadership positions in major economic, financial and banking institutions.
