CBK Launches the First Edition of the "Advanced Cybersecurity Leaders Program"

The CBK Governor and Chairman of Kuwait Institute of Banking Studies (KIBS) Board of Directors, Basel Al-Haroon, announced the launch of the first edition of the “Advanced Cybersecurity Leaders Program.” This program falls under the “Kafa’a” initiative launched by CBK in collaboration with Kuwaiti banks managed by the KIBS. The initiative aims to develop qualified national cadres in the banking sector and the national economy, and to enhance technical capacities in the field of cybersecurity in response to the evolving needs of the banking sector, and in alignment with its strategic priorities to develop and strengthen technical capabilities in Cloud Security, and strengthen its resilience against the risks associated with the rapid advancement of modern technologies used in the sector’s information systems.

The Governor noted that the high-level program is specifically designed for experienced Kuwaiti cybersecurity professionals. It provides participants with advanced practical training in cloud computing security, threat detection, and security architecture, enabling them to obtain internationally recognized GIAC certifications. It also equips participants with the expertise needed to defend against sophisticated cyber threats, meet regulatory requirements, and strengthen the security posture of the banking sector. The governor pointed out that this program aims to address the acute shortage of cybersecurity skills in the banking sector, support compliance with advanced regulatory and industry standards, and prepares specialized personnel to assume senior leadership positions in the field of cybersecurity.

The Governor added that the “Advanced Cybersecurity Leaders Program” will be offered under multiple specialized tracks, starting with the Cloud Environment Security track, that will last for eight weeks and will be implemented in collaboration with SANS Institute, one of the world’s top cybersecurity training organizations, specializing in professional training and certification in this field.

As for the admission criteria and requirements, the Governor stated that applicants will be selected based on objective standards and must pass the required tests and personal interviews. Those interested in applying can review the program details and submit their applications starting Wednesday, 1 April until Thursday, 30 April 2026, through the Kafa’a initiative website:  www.Kafaakw.org.
