CBK Marks International Women’s Day, Applauds Female Staff

In a statement released Sunday marking the occasion of International Women’s Day, the Central Bank of Kuwait (CBK) highlighted its longstanding commitment to women’s empowerment and celebrated the hundreds of professional women amongst its staff. This gender empowerment agenda is part of the New Kuwait Vision 2035 and the fifth Sustainable Development Goal.

Women represent 58% of the Central Bank of Kuwait’s staff. They also fill 42% of supervisory roles at CBK. This number exceeds the common international benchmark of 30% women in regulatory bodies and the financial sector across the world. It also is higher than the European Central Bank’s target of 35%.

CBK has launched several key initiatives in recent years to promote equality, as well as encourage women and build capacity for their promotion to supervisory roles. Moreover, CBK adopted a number of policies in support of working parents. This year alone, CBK provided a nursing room for new mothers and started implementing flexible working hours to help staff manage their social and work obligations.
