CBK-IMF Panel Discussion on Unwinding COVID-19 Measures

The Central Bank of Kuwait (CBK), in cooperation with the IMF-Middle East Center for Economics and Finance (IMF-CEF), hosted a panel discussion titled “Policies Related to COVD-19 Measures” during 13-14 December 2021 with the participation of GCC central banks.

The panel involved discussions of the regulatory and supervisory measures undertaken by the GCC central banks on the banking and financial sector to counter the COVID-19 pandemic, and relaxation of such measures. In addition, the panel broached the advancement in digital technology in response to the pandemic and the experts’ recommendations for developing cybersecurity strategies in the banking sector to prevent cyber-attacks.

The event aims to build national capabilities, enhance banking supervision approaches and adopt the best regional and international practices. This panel discussion is one of a series hosted by the CBK to share experiences in banking supervision and, eventually, maintain financial stability and monetary stability.
