Central Bank of Kuwait Launches Fifth Edition of "Cybersecurity Leaders Program"

As part of the CBK’s strategy to develop qualified national cadres in the banking sector and national economy, and to build technical capacities in the field of cybersecurity and strengthen the resilience of the financial and banking sector against the risks associated with the rapid advancement of modern technologies used in the sector’s information systems, CBK is keen to adopt the latest technologies while minimizing their risks.

And as part of Kafa’a initiative launched by CBK in collaboration with Kuwaiti banks managed by the Kuwait Institute of Banking Studies (KIBS), the CBK Governor and Chairman of KIBS Board of Directors, Basel Al-Haroon, announced the launch of the fifth edition of “the Cybersecurity Leaders Program”.

This high-level program is addressed to Kuwaitis specialized in information and network security, providing them the opportunity to refine their skills and enhance their capabilities. The goal is to establish a generation of professional leaders and technicians capable of developing appropriate programs to protect information systems in Kuwait’s banking and financial sector, in line with best practices in the field of information security. The Governor indicated that this program crowns the fruitful cooperation between CBK, local banks, and the Institute of Banking Studies within a comprehensive set of initiatives aimed at developing and qualifying national cadres.

The Governor added that “the Cybersecurity Leaders Program” will be implemented in collaboration with SANS Cyber Institute, one of the world’s top cybersecurity training organizations, specializing in professional training and certification in this field. The program will last for three months and will conclude with a training workshop in collaboration with the Bank for International Settlements (BIS).

As for the admission criteria and requirements, the Governor stated that applicants will be selected based on objective standards and must pass the required tests and personal interviews.
