As part of the Central Bank of Kuwait's ongoing monitoring of key global economic and monetary indicators and geopolitical developments and their potential impact on the performance of the local economy, the Central Bank of Kuwait highlights that its current assessment of available local economic and financial data and information reflects the soundness and strength of the monetary and financial stability in the State of Kuwait, and prevailing monetary conditions are considered consistent with domestic economic conditions.
The latest monetary and banking data indicates that the broad money supply (M2) increased by 1.9% in July 2026 compared to the corresponding month of the previous year. The balance of residents’ deposits with local banks increased by 9.8%, and, likewise, the balance of credit facilities to residents increased by 4.8% in July 2026 compared with the corresponding month of 2025. It is worth noting that the current discount rate is 3.5%.
In conclusion, CBK affirmed its continued vigilant monitoring of global and domestic economic and monetary developments, in a manner that ensures the adoption of necessary measures through the use of available monetary policy and macroprudential tools, following a gradual and balanced approach to reinforce monetary and financial stability in the State of Kuwait.
